Juldyz (star).

The artist Dimash Qudaibergen quotes „I am not a star, a star is something in the sky“.

This painting plays with the impression of a surreal night scene and the image of a „star“ on stage amidst odd lighting situations. In the context of the pictures shown in the exhibition, it invites questions such as what it means to be in the spotlight, to be perceived as a cultural mediator on international grounds and a national treasure; how to live up to expectations and remain focused and grounded amidst the praise, glorification and projections. On his 30th birthday, Dimash released a highly philosophical song he wrote and composed, „Omir“ (Life), which perhaps allows a glimpse into his answers to these questions.
